What does a Back End Software Developer do at Checkd?

No two sprints are the same at Checkd. So one day you might be using Kafka to create high-performance data pipelines that process tens of thousands of live sports games into our in-house prediction engine. Next, you might be harnessing the power of Serverless, API-Gateway and Lambda to build lightning-fast, scalable APIs that power the front-end apps that millions of users interact with, daily. The back end team is diverse, it’s exciting and always changing! 

Although we write the backend and main API in Node.js (AWS Lambda + Serverless framework) we’re keen on speaking to backend developers with experience across any backend language. So, if you’ve got Ruby, Python, Golang, PHP or Java experience and looking to work with Node.js => get in touch! 👍 

You should join us if you have experience:

• Working on large-scale products that handle high volumes of data.

• Building clean backends with either Node.js, Ruby, Python, Golang, PHP or Java

• Working with AWS technologies including Lambda, API Gateway & CloudFront

• Optimising relational and non-relational databases, as well as queuing systems.

• Designing & building scalable architectures.

• Practising quality software design & build fundamentals (e.g. SOLID, TDD)

• Releasing the highest-quality code possible and won’t settle for anything less.

Where will you work and what's the team like?

We’re a multinational, semi-remote technical team that's based in Wroclaw, Poland. Our technical team is about 25 people strong and we work in cross-functional squads, made up of software engineers (FE, Native Mobile, BE), QA’s, designers and product owners. 

Our backend team is led up by our Lead Engineer, Michal Lomnicki. The role will be remote, but the team also regularly meet in Wroclaw for social and work events, so it'd be great if you could make those events too. Ideally, we're looking for engineers in Wroclaw, but we're also happy to look at anyone in a +/- 1 hour timezone of CEST.
